Travis also shared the below with Global Citizen:
‘As a 30-year survivor of Cystic Fibrosis, a 3x double-lung transplant recipient, and most recently, a survivor of a severe complications caused by COVID-19, I have an understanding of what it’s like to fight for your life. Breathing is an instinct or natural reflux of a body; the ability to breathe, however, is a gift that is taken for granted. Saying “no” to a vaccine that can help you protect that precious ability is like saying “no” to the road that’s been nicely paved, choosing instead a road that is full of invisible bumps, holes, and potentially dead-ends.
‘It’s not a matter of me asking you to vaccinate to keep the more vulnerable safe, it’s a matter of you asking yourself:
“How vulnerable am I willing to become before I’m just as at-risk for severe disease or death as they are?”
The longer and more widely the virus can spread, the more mutated and resistant to treatment(s) it can become. Does it need to have the power to take your life as easily and quickly as it could have mine before the pandemic becomes science instead of politics to you?’
