I keep hearing about vaccine equity – what is that?Updated: April 22nd, 2021
Vaccine equity is about how we ensure that the vaccines are distributed fairly to different populations, and that people of different means and backgrounds are able to access them, especially when supply is limited.
In this article, Global Citizen spoke to Dr. Angela K. Shen, who said “Vaccine nationalism only helps the virus propagate… In order for a vaccine to work, you need most of society to be protected — and that protection happens when you get everyone vaccinated. So you want to roll this out to everyone because, inherently, that’s how you protect everyone collectively.”
As the nonprofit ONE Campaign aptly puts it in its video series, “If the vaccine isn’t everywhere, the pandemic isn’t going anywhere”.
