“I’m helping Black and Latinx people in LA travel to get their vaccine”Updated: May 28th, 2021
Global Citizen caught up with “accidental activist” Angelina Spicer, who is tackling vaccine inequity in Los Angeles.
Spicer told us that when she arrived at her vaccination centre in March, she was shocked by the hundreds of people waiting outside. In an area where nearly the entire population is Black or Latinx, Spicer said she could count on one hand the number of Black and brown people in that line.
Given that those communities have been disproportionately affected by the pandemic, she decided to do something to combat the lack of access.
In this video, she told us what she did, and what she hopes to do to help more communities get access to COVID-19 vaccines.
