‘Vaccine Hunter’ groups are helping people in the US access vaccinesUpdated: June 1st, 2021
Abhishek and his wife, Pooja Daryani, started a ‘Bay Area Vaccine Hunter’ group when they heard that vaccines were going to waste around the USA because of vaccines expiring or people missing their appointments.
Group members are posting leads on pharmacies, hospitals, and health care centers with vaccine appointments available, or doses to spare – and even creating mechanisms to sign people up for phone alerts when vaccines are available.
They are also supporting one another in overcoming obstacles, including language barriers, computer illiteracy, and work schedule constraints that prevent them from booking their own appointments.
Currently, in all 50 states across the USA, anyone over the age of 16 is eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. Read more about the Daryanis’ group and find out if there’s a Vaccine Hunter group in your area.
